Juice Cleanse Anyone?

Lately, I've been feeling pretty run down and sitting at my work desk all day definitely isn't helping. I've been trying to eat healthier, but I just feel like I need some sort of extra boost. So, I made my own cleansing green juice with a blender, based on the recipe I found on Youtube here. I love kale, so this recipe seemed like a great choice for my first green juice.

Ingredients: Kale, Cucumber, Agave Nectar, Lemon Juice
Tools: Blender, Strainer
My Reaction: Thanks to the agave nectar and lemon juice, this drink actually has a sweet taste to it, which I was not expecting at all. I really am enjoying making these a few times a week and would suggest this to anyone looking for a light green juice. The only downside is the messy cleanup and the fact that the drink smells a little bit like grass.

  1. I think green juice is pretty awesome. I like making a "normal smoothie" (strawberry, banana, other berries) and then throwing in a handful of spinach or kale. I feel like the one you made, even though it looks good to me, is a little scary for a first time green smoothie (so good job being brave! haha).

Also, kale is SO cheap. The last time I bought it I stuffed one of those grocery store bags, it came to like $0.75 for the whole thing, and I couldn't even use all of it. I even tried going all out hippie and making some kale chips, but they wilted pretty badly when I tried to save them for the next day.

Sorry, I love vegetables. Done gushing now.

  2. I love kale chips!! haha I agree though, they get wilty on the second day so I always try to burn them just a little bit to add crispy-ness and extend their life. Kale is awesome. Also, great suggestion for sneaking greens into fruit smoothies!
